CPD

There is no specific qualification to be a GPwER in Mental Health. The type of work done by GPs in extended mental health roles varies considerably – what is important is that you can demonstrate you are developing and maintaining your competencies to do the role.

Here we have collated some of the most applicable CPD, by subject area. Some is easily accessible, others require registration but have free access, and some need paid subscription or membership.

The RCGP offer a wide range of eLearning related to mental health.

Some is freely available with registration, other elements require RCGP subscription.

The search function is currently unreliable – scroll through the courses, toolkits (including the mental health toolkit) and hubs instead.

There are also several One Day Essentials. The next one on Mental Health is 21st November 2024 and available on ‘Rewind’ for 2 weeks after the event.

The RCPsych have eLearning for trainees as well as a wider eLearning site. The former is more tailored towards passing the MRCPsych exam. Both require subscription. There is a limited amount of free content, if you register.

The British Association for Psychopharmacology produce guidelines and offer online CPD, Masterclasses via BAP online, and face-to-face CPD. Subscription/course payment is required for both.

The eLFH site is available for free to anyone working in the NHS – registration is required. There are a wide range of courses available.
